How are percentiles for Online Platform exams calculated?
Percentiles are calculated by comparing your performance in online platform exams with those of other MedEntry students who have completed that exam. You will be provided with a UCAT percentile ranking for each of the four UCAT subtests, as well as an overall UCAT percentile ranking for the exam. The overall UCAT percentile ranking only considers your performance in the cognitive subtests (VR, DM, QR and not Situational Judgement).
In order to ensure percentiles are as accurate as possible, practice exam attempts completed within the allocated time limit are only compared to other practice exams completed within the time limit. This ensures that percentile rankings will not be affected if other students spend longer than recommended on a specific subtest, or overall in the exam. Practice exam attempts completed outside of the time limits are compared to all exam attempt scores in the database. However, keep in mind that they may be an inaccurate indication of your performance.
It is recommended that UCAT exams are completed in a single sitting, and within each section's time limits to best simulate the live UCAT exam and to increase the accuracy of your percentile rankings.
