When to begin preparation
When to begin UCAT preparation is a difficult question and one that is very individual.
Many students prefer to get started early given that:
a) they realise they are going to be exceptionally busy in year 12 and
b) they realise how important the UCAT is (i.e. often as important, or even more important, than ATAR)

Our AU and NZ packages run according to the UCAT cycle, which means they start early August and run to mid August of the following year.

Our HPAT packages run according to the HPAT cycle, which means they start the beginning of March and run to February of the following year.

Very few students finish everything on the online platform. Those who do are generally the students who start preparing early, in year 10, or those who rush through the resources and do not take time to review, reflect on and discuss questions.
If you have enough time, you should ideally be spending at least 20 hours on each practice exam. After completing the exam, you should thoroughly review each question and discuss difficult questions with a group of friends.

The amount of time you devote to UCAT preparation depends on you - in particular your current abilities, level of motivation and other commitments. Generally, MedEntry advises students to spend about 10% of study time preparing for UCAT in the few months leading up to the exam. For example, if you spend a total of thirty hours per week studying, about three hours per week should be set aside for UCAT preparation.

Online Platform materials cannot be printed. The UCAT is a computer-based test and therefore it is not recommended to practice for UCAT on paper.
